New Breed of Business Gurus Touting Responsibility

WSJ logoThis article, New Breed of Business Gurus Rises, in Monday’s Wall Street Journal says that 3 of the top 5 business gurus are focused on issues of psychology. That means managing attention is what leaders want to learn about. The attention of one’s employees is a leader’s most scarce resource. When you learn to focus attention by the way you lead, you get to leverage extraordinary results. And that’s why my clients study Responsibility Redefined™, to get their attention off of Lay Blame, Justify, Shame, Obligation, and Quit fast!

It’s no wonder then that one of those top five gurus mentioned in the article is Harvard Professor Howard Gardner, famous for his work identifying multiple intelligences which suggests book coverthat we all can have different types of brilliance. Professor Gardner’s latest book is—get this—Responsibility at Work: How Leading Professionals Act (or Don’t Act) Responsibly. It’s a series of essays by Professor Gardner and research colleagues about what they consider to be responsible leadership.

That bodes pretty well for getting Responsibility Redefined into the upper echelons of leadership, don’t you think?

I’m reading Responsiblity At Work now and will do two things when I’m done: First, I’ll review it here. And second, I’ll reach out to Professor Gardner. If you know the good man, or know someone who might put us in touch, please let me know.
